The InnerSource Commons community is committed to building a strong evidence base for InnerSource practices, both through its own practitioner-focused surveys and by connecting people to the growing body of peer-reviewed academic work on the topic.

This page brings together two complementary types of research:

  • Academic & Peer-Reviewed Research — A curated, open bibliography of academic papers on InnerSource, maintained collaboratively in our public Zotero library. This is your go-to resource for scholarly literature, citations, and research references.
  • Research conducted by/with InnerSource Commons Community — For example the State of InnerSource Reports, annual practitioner surveys conducted by InnerSource Commons, capturing trends, adoption patterns, and community insights from professionals applying InnerSource in their organisations.

The State of InnerSource reports are produced by the InnerSource Commons community and reflect the lived experiences of practitioners across industry.
